Choosing the Right Fan

  • Room size & CFM: Match blade span and airflow (CFM) to room square footage.
  • Ceiling height: Flush-mount for low ceilings; use a downrod to keep blades ~8–9 ft above floor.
  • Location: Use damp/wet-rated fans for bathrooms, porches, or humid areas.

Mounting & Safety

  • Fan-rated box only: The electrical box must be specifically rated for ceiling fans.
  • Support: Heavier fans or vaulted ceilings may need bracing or a support bar.
  • Controls: Consider separate light/fan control, wall switch, or remote kits.

FAQ

Do I need a permit?
Replacing a fan at an existing, fan-rated box usually doesn’t require a permit. Adding a new location, new wiring, or correcting issues may require permit/inspection.

Can I put a fan where there’s a light?
Often yes—if the existing box is fan-rated. If not, we’ll replace it with the correct support.

What about sloped ceilings?
Use a compatible sloped-ceiling kit and the right downrod length to maintain safe blade clearance.

Will you assemble and balance the fan?
Yes. We assemble, mount, connect controls, and balance the fan for smooth operation.
